Packaging & Processing Lead

One landed cost up front — duty, handling, final mile. If a surcharge appears, it's ours to absorb.

SEC / 01 Overview

Job Description

The Packaging & Processing Lead runs the export packing floor in New York. This role decides how cargo is protected for the journey it is actually going to take — crating, palletising, dunnage, moisture control and marking — and leads the team that does it. Get it right and the goods arrive as they left; get it wrong and the claim lands on us.

Job responsibilities

  • Specify how each shipment is crated, palletised and secured for its route.
  • Lead the export packing team and set the daily release plan.
  • Apply ISPM 15, dangerous goods and load-securement standards on every build.
  • Select dunnage, desiccants and moisture barriers to suit transit conditions.
  • Mark and document cargo so it survives handling and inspection alike.
  • Run damage-claim root cause analysis and close out corrective actions.
  • Control material consumption and cost per shipment against budget.
  • Train new packers and sign off their first solo crates.

Packing is the last engineering decision made about a shipment. This role owns that decision and the evidence behind it.

Qualification

  • 5+ years in export packing, crating or industrial packaging, including 2+ leading a team.
  • Working knowledge of ISPM 15, dangerous goods marking and load-securement standards.
  • Able to read dimensions and weights and design a crate that survives handling.
  • Practical experience with desiccants, VCI film and moisture barrier bags.
  • Forklift certified; comfortable with power tools and packing machinery.

Duties

  • Publish and maintain the packing specification library by commodity.
  • Meet daily export release targets without compromising protection standards.
  • Keep material consumption and cost per shipment within budget.
  • Own damage-claim root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Train new packers and sign off on their first solo crates.

Conclusion

Nobody thanks you for a crate that held. That is the point. If you take satisfaction in cargo that arrives exactly as it left, this floor is yours to run.
